What stays on your device

The iPhone voice uses a voice already installed on the phone. That audio is not sent to riri.ink, Kokoro, or xAI, and it does not use your daily character allowance. On iOS 26 and later, when Apple Intelligence is turned on, a noisy web page can be cleaned on the phone before that voice reads it. The on-device model sees the opening of a very long page. Pasted text and PDF text are not sent to that model.

In a browser, Device uses the browser’s own speech. Pasted text stays in the browser. A link or a file is still prepared by riri.ink so the article can be extracted, and the speech itself is made on the device.

What leaves your device

Kokoro and Grok send the text, link, or file you ask to hear to riri.ink. A link is fetched by the server, then a language model may keep the article and drop the rest of the page. Kokoro (hosted) or Grok TTS (xAI) receives the piece of text needed to make the audio.

Read This keeps a short-lived audio cache so the same cloud piece is not generated twice. It does not build a library of the documents you read. Daily character counts for Kokoro and Grok are stored on your riri.ink account. The iPhone app remembers which piece you had reached, on the phone.

Your account

The website uses your riri.ink sign-in. The iPhone app stores a sign-in token in the keychain. Sign-in uses your mailbox email and password, or the session cookie on the web.

Payment

Read This Premium is a monthly subscription from Intellectio Ltd. On the website it is £5, paid through Stripe. On the iPhone App Store and TestFlight it is the App Store price, paid through Apple. A direct install of the iPhone app uses the same Stripe checkout as the website. There are no ads. The iPhone and browser voices stay free.

Stripe processes the website card. Apple processes the App Store payment. riri.ink stores that the account is Premium, the Apple subscription expiry, and the original transaction id that ties that subscription to one account. It does not store the card number. Premium starts when Stripe or Apple confirms the payment. Cancelling stops the next renewal. The period already paid for stays on until it ends. Cancel an App Store subscription in the iPhone Settings. Cancel the website subscription at riri.ink/read.

What you send

You need the right to the text you submit. Read This generates audio when you ask and does not publish it.
